"Primarily, I create functional pottery using either stoneware or porcelain clay. In my work, I employ multiple decorative techniques such as carving, sprigging and sgraffito. I create pieces for everyday use, striving to strike a balance between form and function, by creating work that feels good when held and is aesthetically pleasing when not in use.

The beauty of Nova Scotia's landscape, both its richness and its starkness, inspires my work. The immense talent of Atlantic Canada's artisans buoys my creative spirit every day. I was fortunate to receive my pottery education through a two-year apprenticeship with Paula MacDonald in Chester, Nova Scotia, in the late '90s. Since that time, I have had various studios, from a wheel in front of the toilet to a soulful little red cottage nestled amongst the trees.

In 2019, I moved my studio home, where I continue to work as a full-time potter creating pieces for client and commercial commissions and fulfilling orders from several galleries. I have just completed a large commission for a small luxury hotel opening in Halifax in 2021.

Born in Nova Scotia, I was an air-force brat who grew up in Baden, Germany, Trenton, Ontario, Greenwood, Nova Scotia, and back to Ontario, where I moved only seven more times. I relocated back to Nova Scotia in the mid-'90s and have lived here since, moving only six times.

I have lived in my current home, now the permanent home of my studio, for 14 years. I guess I have finally landed. I have an undergraduate degree in English from Western University in London, ON, and a Masters of Education in Lifelong Learning from Mount Saint Vincent University. I am currently completing a Masters of Arts in Women and Gender Studies from Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax, NS.
