His work is non-representational. Texture, colour and the incorporation of various found materials come together to create the complex visual objects that constitute his work.

For many, his paintings evoke the natural world: rough stone, aged wood, fleeting light and shadow. His creative process was spontaneous and intuitive. He approached each piece with an attitude of openness, working without a pre-determined image of the end product.

He combined a variety of materials with washes and glazes of both acrylics and oils, coaxing unforeseen textural effects and often surprised himself along the way. Chance and serendipity played a key role in his work.

George received his formal training at the Luton Art School in England. Travels to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in the 70’s was all that was needed to convince him to move to Canada from his native England.
