Andrew Elliot
Andrew Elliot, of Weymouth, Nova Scotia, creates turned pieces of wood from native Nova Scotia trees paired with some exotic wood elements to reveal their inner beauty. Treasure boxes and wooden canisters are adorned with ebony piano keys; carved with precision.
The process starts with a chainsaw, turned by lathe, and completed with a buffed and polished finish.
A former high school science teacher and Biology graduate of Acadia University, his understanding of nature is reflected in his love of woodworking which started during childhood in his grandfather’s shop. After a decade as a precision craftsman, each unique piece reveal the natural beauty, history and texture of wood, as a reminder of the natural world.
